Feature Story

Transpersonal Development Therapy
Transpersonal Development Therapy recognizes the importance of the intuitive nature along with transpersonal transcendental
experiences which can be used as a valuable growth opportunity.  In other words, transpersonal development therapy recognizes the psychic and
spiritual levels of consciousness and incorporates them into traditional practices such as symptom relief and behavior changes:

For appropriate clients, the transpersonal practitioner / educator uses a variety of tools to aid the client in detachment from and the
transcendence of personal issues such as:

   - Providing an appropriate framework for assimilating of transpersonal experiences information on psychological potential and realizing the
importance of assuming responsibility not only for one’s behavior, but for being the source of one’s experience, as teaching tools, experiencing the
existence and potential of altered states and understanding the usefulness, limits, and dangers of attachments to fixed models and expectations.

Both eastern and western methods of working with consciousness are used, meditation and yoga may be used, not necessarily to change
experiences, but rather to change one’s relationship to them by increased mindfulness of experience and a willingness to allow them to be as they are.

The Client can practice them in daily life and thus increase the efficiency of the therapy.  Modeling has been recognized and acknowledged as
an excellent and important feature of transpersonal development.  The practitioner / educator may serve both self and client by using the therapy
session to optimize his / her own transpersonal growth through consciously serving the client.
Working with one’s own consciousness becomes a primary responsibility for growth as one participant facilitates the growth of the other.
The situation is seen as one in which the practitioner / educator and the client both work on themselves in ways most helpful to each one’s stage of
growth and development.  In karma yoga modeling, the practitioner both shares competence and provides a learning to cope model, sharing his / her
unresolved evolution in as open and honest a manner as possible where appropriate.  Because this approach demands strong commitment by the
practitioner / educator to hear the truth about him / her self it may possibly provide the best model for the client.
Therefore, a practitioner / educator who practices daily meditation and finds it a valuable experience is better equipped to work with clients who
meditate than one with only second hand knowledge of the potential benefits and effects if meditation.
In transpersonal development, the values and attitudes of the practitioner educator are of crucial significance and the effects of modeling can
be seen in subtle attitudes as well as overt behavior.

(how to keep your family allergy & toxin free)
Mold:  mold can cause havoc in a person’s health.  Symptoms can be: headaches, skin irritations, bronchial congestion, asthma, liver, bowels,
runny nose, itchy eyes and the nervous system. Mold is a fungus that is found where there is a lot of moisture: leaky basements, improperly sealed
and insulated walls and windows.
Mold continues to grow in the damp atmosphere on anything: books, food, carpet, clothing and wood.  The pores then spread when the objects are
moved and not thoroughly dried out.   Example:  if a basement has had a serious water damage done to it, anything that is in the area needs to be
thoroughly cleaned and dried out.  Along with monitoring of other areas in the basement to see if there are any signs that the mold may have started
and spread.  You can see dark areas in drywall, mold on paper and books or on window sills.
The mold can grow on ceiling panels and even in the ducts.  It would be safer to keep the area with the water damage clear of any objects etc. for a
bit till you are certain that the humidity has gone right down.
Cleaning of Mold: a detergent with tea tree oil or other strong and natural disinfectant.  If you are uncertain of natural solutions and want something
stronger:  bleach with water is a very strong solution, but please use rubbers gloves and a mask (N-95 respirator) to do the task (you don’t want to
burn your lungs and get sick from the bleach).  For expensive furniture, you may want to consult an expert on the proper cleaning methods for the wood
and materials.
Use a circulating fan to help dry up the area immediately after the water damage has occurred and equipment can be purchased to absorb any
additional water.  If uncertain, contact your nearest restoration company.  Mold is dangers and can cause serious damage to our bodies and organs.

(food alternatives & heath)
Vegetarian Diets Many of us shying away from the meats and dairy products.  I have met many vegetarians that look very pale and seem to lack
the energy that they need.  What we do need to know is the proper supplements that our bodies need without the meats and dairies that provide the
proteins that our bodies require.
- One of the first requirements for females is iron.  We can purchase iron supplements that are non constipating and there are liquid iron formulas
on the market.  The liquid formulas are more easier and faster absorbed into our bodies.
- Vitamins:  Multivitamins that are geared to the vegetarian diet: with iron and iron free for the males.
- Protein shakes: There are several protein shakes at your health food stores that have a lot of the essential vitamins, minerals and proteins.
Formulas available with: Rice, Soy, Hemp, and Whey.
- Meal planning and food shopping: using vegan cookbooks are a fun and wonderful way for a person to see what can be done with your vegetables,
legumes, grains and fruits.
** Please remember: if we are omitting something from our diet, there are now many safe and alternative replacements.

(Herbs & supplements)
Stress and depression:  These two seem to go hand in hand.  Experience showed that my high stress level lead me to a mild depression a few
years ago.  After being prescribed anti-depressants by the doctor and looking at the bottle, and not opening it, it was placed on a shelf.   Went back
to the drug store and talked to one of the assistants there, she led me to the Vitamin B’s.   The vitamin B50 complex ended up being a saving grace
to my health and well being.   The depression greatly lessoned and my outlook was a lot stronger.
Vitamins: We have several options now for stress and depression.  One of the first steps is the Vitamins B.  Vitamin B’s are excellent for stress,
energy, depression and are water soluble: what your bodies does not need will be eliminated.  Our bodies are different in what we require and some
of us are very sensitive to what we consume.  I can go 2 -3 months without taking the B’s and may need them for 2-3 weeks the next month.  There is
now a liquid Vitamin B that is quickly absorbed by the body.  Vitamin B’s are beneficial for both males and females, from working full time to being a
full time parent, at school, or making a life style change.  ** A caution: niacin (B3) may not be recommended if you have a liver disorder, gout or high
blood pressure.
Herbs: that can help with stress: Valerian, St. John’s Wort, Siberian Ginseng, Rhoila, Suma, Chamomile,  Ashwaganda, Ginko Biloba, Licorice Root,
Oat Straw and more.  We can add to the Vitamin B’s  when the additional support is needed.  I recently tried a product with Rhoila, Suma, Ashwaganda
and Siberian Ginseng in it and noticed a change within 2 -3 weeks.  I always start something at half the dose required to see how my system will adapt.
Along with the additional support that was needed for the time being, the herbs in the formula also help to heal our body and repair any distress that has
been placed on it.   The herbs can be found in formulas and bottled, or in teas.   ** We need to make sure that the herbs we take are safe for us; some
medical conditions bring restrictions on what can be used.
Minerals: Calcium and Magnesium is another combination that is calming for the nervous system.  Many will take this at night before bed for a better
sleep.
Diet:  Raw fruits and vegetables, whole grains, brown rice, seeds and nuts.  Meats: Salmon and turkey have tryptophan (calming effect) and protein.
Try to avoid caffeine, sodas and pops, saturated fats, sugar, and processed foods.
Other Alternative Healing:  Yoga, Meditation, Reiki, Massage Therapy, Walking, Music.  We need to learn to slow down and enjoy our days more,
even going to a job that you don’t like, “Today I am going to have some fun, and not worry so much.”  The more we practice at looking at situations
differently and more lightly, the easier it gets and we learn to relax more.
