Intention Focused Therapy is
powerful
When your mind and soul combine with focused intention you
will create miracles!
Every once in a while we stumble upon an experience so rare
and so out of the ordinary that we know there has to be something we are
supposed to learn from it. For me that lesson came from the death of my
husband.
I believed we would be together forever. But Rick’s life was
haunted by a past of abuse and separation. To beat his pain he battled
with alcohol and depression. At times it seemed like he was winning.
But in 1998 and after only five years of marriage, Rick
decided to confront his past and journeyed back to the place where he
endured his abuse. Terrible memories resurfaced. Over the next weeks I
watched helplessly as he withdrew from family and friends and tried to
deal with his inner turmoil, but he was failing. After a desperate 12
weeks he asked for outside support.
Rick agreed to go to a healing centre which was a six hour
drive away. Half way there he started to pray for a miracle to release
him from his lifelong pain. He was lying on the back seat. Two hours
later when he arrived at the centre he was dead. The doctors said there
was nothing physiologically wrong with him. The autopsy revealed no
cause of death.
Later, the pathologist told me that in all his 40 years of
doing autopsies he had never been so baffled. Rick’s heart had simply
stopped beating and there was no apparent reason. The truth is my
husband could not find a way to stop the intense pain he felt in his
heart and the miracle he prayed for was death.
My husband’s death taught me the power of intention. He
intended to die; he willed himself to die. If I knew then, what I know
now, Rick would have willed himself to live. It’s entirely up to you
which thought you align with. We have the power to choose our
thoughts when we choose to live with present moment awareness.
My message boils down to a simple formula. Intention is the
very basic spiritual force that drives the universe. It is the energy
encoded into our DNA. We have the power to first visualize something in
our minds and then manifest it in the physical realm. The fuel that
drives manifestation is intention. The magic of intention is that just
by acknowledging it and focusing on it, you can create miracles in your
life. It really is that simple.
While the path of my inspiration was determined by my
husband’s death, my determination to heal showed up early in my life.
It was an unstoppable force. At age 16, I was a nurse’s aide; at age
19, I was studying to be a psychiatric nurse.
Much of my path has been shaped by events in my life.
Shortly after nursing school, I was called home to nurse my dying
grandfather and I saw how his addictions had ravaged his body, his mind,
his soul. His life was driven by addictions. It was devastating to
watch. Determined to come to terms with the cycle of addiction I
registered in a program to study addictions which later then led into
studying Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) …………

(how to keep your family allergy & toxin free)
A couple of weekends ago, I got the visit the Body Soul & Spirit
Expo in Calgary, and am impressed with the amount of suppliers that
really care about what is in the products that they sell. I know I
can go there, and not get blasted with perfumes and colognes or
nasty air fresheners. Walked past one stall that I thought would
blow off my shorts with the candles that they had, yet I was not
offended.
How many of us have the nerve to stop and say something
to other people around that that were offensive perfumes, colognes
or put air fresheners into their homes or vehicles. This is
something that I have found really hard to do, as I do not want to
offend or hurt someone’s feelings. Yet, I will allow myself to get
sick or get severe headaches by being in their presence to keep the
peace. After nearly lousing the contents of my stomach in a good
friend’s vehicle, I finally said something to the person. After
getting headaches around someone else that came to my home, after
two years, I finally explained why I am so cranky after they show
up. Their cologne gave me bad headaches and I would avoid the
friend as much as I could. Not much of a host, heh?
The vehicle has aromatherapy in it now, and the other
friend showers before they come over. We just need to stop and
think what our pretty smelling stuff really does to us. Many of the
air fresheners have a chemical that numbs the senses in the nose.
Would that not cause permanent damage after awhile? Many of these
chemicals also have an effect on the nervous system and reports have
show how they can cause damage to unborn children.
This time of the year, the children are back into
school. Are your teenagers going to school covered in smelly
stuff? Do they realize that they smell a lot better without?
The younger children are more apt to get head lice, as
they work closer together and are too free to share hats, and
clothing, and their coats are hung close together in the
classrooms. Tea Tree Oil is the best and safest way to get rid of
head lice. The chemicals that are found in the pharmacies do not
even work and can cause damage to the skin and nervous system.
I know that this section went from perfumes to head lice
chemicals, but I just want to emphasize on how we all need to
rethink of what we do to ourselves, the environment and others
around us. Though I have always been cautious about cleaning
products, I did not know about the perfumes until about 10 years
ago. If you are nervous about speaking to a friend, just email this
newsletter to them and share. Thank you.
(food alternatives & heath)
Two weeks ago I
heard someone say, that if they worked outside in the veggie gardens
and did all the walking as I did, they would slim down. Usually I
hold back in commenting, but I turned around and said “I really try
to watch what I eat”. We can be on our feet all day, yet not be in
good health. Knowing what we consume is a big step to better
health.
Was asked today if I ever cook or fry with oil. My
answer was hardly ever, as my stomach does not react well with oils.
Once in a blue moon I may make pancakes or do a big batch of egg
rolls and that is about it. My friend could not understand how one
could live with out cholesterol in their life. Easy. The less we
alter our food, the better.
What can we do to change our recipes to decrease what we
are using for ingredients? I can not remember the last time I
followed a recipe all the way through. Following are some ideas.
If you have more suggestions I would love to hear and share.
Remember: you are what you eat.
- Sugar in baking: if a recipe calls for a cup of sugar, use just
about half a cup. You can also use maple syrup, cane sugar or
Stevia.
- Cooking oil: can be reduced in baking by using another wet
ingredient like apple sauce or water.
- Butter is much healthier than using margarine. Even limit what
you use to fry in and cook at a lower temp, the moisture from the
veggies will add to the dish.
If you love veggies and grains, and legumes: sometimes
we get tired of what we use as a topper. How about:
- Pesto sauce on top of the grain or legumes with raw veggies cut up
and mixed in.
- Using your herbs to add flavor.
- Baked potatoes instead of fried: top with butter and fresh or
frozen dill. Sour cream and artificial bacon bits really are not
that healthy.
- Add sunflowers seeds, sesame seeds, almonds, raw cut up veggies.
- Make your own sauces, don’t buy them. To make your own costs
less, it tastes better and has less preservatives than what is in
the jars. You can also, use organic ingredients to enhance your
recipe and health. (There are Organic Products on the shelf in
specialty stores and worth buying.)
And last of all: try to stay away from the white foods:
white flour, sugar, white rice. If these are in our diet, try to
limit what you consume. Brown rice tastes a lot better than white
rice. Though I still use white flour, I bake my own bread, the
bread tastes like real bread and not airy paper or cardboard. I
limit how much bread I eat in a day and can go many days without
bread. The sugars make me feel sluggish, so I use a bit of honey in
my tea.

B Vitamins
are becoming more recommended in today’s society as many of us are
stressed with work, home life, caring for others and just not
slowing down. I see this stress not only in myself at times, but in
many friends and clients. Stress can cause problems with the
bowels, cause depression, not sleeping well and becoming extremely
tired. Studies have shown that some with Alzheimer’s are deficient
in the B12. Of course we can say we are copping, but after talking
for a few minutes, or looking into a persons eyes you can see the
effects of their life styles. You see the tiredness, sadness and a
lethargic look.
The B vitamins can help to: increase our energy,
increase the health of our nerves, for our skin, eyes, hair, mouth,
liver, decrease depression and anxiety along with helping us to
sleep better. It is recommended to take all the B vitamins
together, as they work better, but a person can take more of one of
the B’s for a short period of time. Your body absorbs what it needs
and the rest comes out in the urine.
B1 (Thiamine): aids in digestion, blood formation,
carbohydrate metabolism, brain function, provides energy, proper
growth, regulated appetite, antioxidant, and aids in the muscle tone
of the stomach, intestines and heart.
B2 (Riboflavin): this one is good for the formation of the
red blood cells along with promoting antibody production. It can
cause problems with eye fatigue, but will help out with the
treatment of cataracts. Vitamin B2 helps to increase metabolism and
the break down of fats and carbohydrates. B2 is very important
during pregnancy for proper fetus growth. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
has been treated with B2 and B6.
B3 (Niacin, Nicotinic Acid, Niacinamide): this is similar to
B2 in helping with metabolism. Useful for the nervous system, and
in producing hydrochloric acid for the digestion. Been used to help
treat mental illnesses and Schizophrenia. Caution: Niacin can
elevate blood sugar.
B5 (Pantothenic Acid): again good for converting fats,
proteins and Carbohydrates. This one is excellent for anti stress
as it helps in the production of the adrenal hormones and building
antibodies. Useful for producing neurotransmitters, stamina
enhancer, prevents anemia, anxiety and energy.
B6 (Pyridoxine): helps to absorb the B12, and helps out with more of
the body than most other nutrients, along with promoting both the
physical and mental health. Like B2, helps in building the red
blood cells, for normal brain function, balances and maintains the
sodium and potassium levels, carpal tunnel syndrome, for the immune
system and for antibody production.
B12 (Cyanocobalamin): works with folic acid in forming red
blood cells, and preventing anemia. As the other B’s, helps with
metabolism and cell formation. It helps to prevent nerve damage and
helps with maintaining the fatty sheaths that protect and cover the
nerve endings. Also helps with memory, learning, and better
sleeping patterns.
In the B Complex formulas there is also: Biotin, Choline, Folate
Inositol, and Para Aminobenzoic Acid (Paba). These and all the
above work very well together and help each other out. Ideal eating
habits could provide most of our B Vitamins, but when we have
additional daily stress and environmental substances around, the B
complex is a welcome addition to our health and well being.

As we gear down to snuggle up for the winter or get ready for fall
and winter sports, we can also do some research for next spring.
Following are a couple of sites that have amazing information of
safe pesticides for indoor and outdoor plants. This year I did not
use anything, not even fertilizers on my roses and had amazing
flowers and no deformed leaves. I also found that spraying a
peppermint oil mist on the front steps got rid of the parade of ants
that kept on getting into the house. Natural and safe. Would love
to share your favorite ideas that work…..
