                September 2011                                                                                                                    Issue # 60

In the last few days I have received a lot of information and concern about the Oil Companies and what Hydraulic Fracturing is doing.  This has been going on for a long time, and now we are finally finding out the truth.  I am not here to offend any one, I just want to share what is really happening to our land and share what we are not being told.  Our water, soil and air sources are a huge part of our health and wellbeing.  We all are a part of becoming a stronger voice for our future.
Please take a look at the two sites / links:
September 10th, 2011
Please mark your calendar for this one and visit www.powersalberta.ca  Find out what Hydraulic Fracturing is doing to our water and the soil on our farm land.

We are all working together to provide a healthier, happier and safer world.

This summer it was really hard to work on the newsletters and do other office work.  The outdoors was like a magnet: whether it was going for walks, working in the gardens or going on summer adventures with the grandkids, family and friends.   I enjoyed watching the veggies and fruit grow, then to see it either go into our bellies or in the fridge or freezer for the winter.  From drying herbs to baking fresh fruit pies, next will be some pickling of beans and carrots and hopefully some jam yet.   I had fun, really enjoyed the warm weather and grateful to be able to learn some more for preserving, eating healthy and grateful for what the earth has to offer for naturally grown produce.

BRAIN GYM

Educational Kinesiology: learning to redevelop the brains neural pathways through physical movement in order to improve our concentration, reading, memory, listening,
confidence and more.

Brain Gym was developed by Dr. Paul E. Dennison and Gail E. Dennison and their associates.  Dr. Dennison graduated from Boston University in the early 1960’s.  He worked in elementary schools and became implemental with other associates in many programs that have been put into action:  Reading programs, Educational Kinesiology (Edu-K) & more.

Brain Gym was one of the first healing practices that I had been introduced to.  This is a fascinating way to learn how the brain functions and how we can re-wire or re-direct our thinking processes.  From the time we are born (and even before birth) to the present day, our brains and senses pick up a lot of information: whether for the good or bad.  These feelings, thoughts, taught emotions and more can be changed in order that we can come out of habits that have hindered our progress in life.

Following are some of the processes our brain goes through during a thought or action:

Laterality:  Communication – we need to access both sides of our brain, eyes, whole body, academic, and communication.  When this is all integrated we can feel successful, strong and capable.
Centering: Organization – here we need to unite the emotional and abstract: thought, fear, fight or flight, expressing ones self or emotions.  When this is integrated we feel centered and content.
Focus:  Comprehension – connection of our back or frontal lobes, learning process, being over focused.  When this is integrated we become attentive, more open, flexible and have a good perspective.

Homolateral means the same side of the body.  When both sides are turned on – we are balanced. When one side or both sides are turned off, we are unbalanced and unable to function productively.

Examples
Un-centered & unbalanced:                          Centered and balanced
When homolateral is switched off:                   When homolateral is switched on:
Off center                                                         Centered
Confused                                                         Clear
Scattered                                                         Concentrates well
Gets thrown off track                                       Follows through easily
Disorganized                                                   Productive

With Brain Gym we can switch the homolateral back on in order to reach our messages a lot better and freely.   Sometimes when we go through experiences that have not been gentle and with kindness and we turn our senses off in order to protect our self from further hurt.

This pattern can continue through out life, being quiet and timid and not wanting to speak out loud.  Yet we have the option to help ourselves become balanced again, so that we don’t feel that pressure or no longer hold that experience in our defenses or subconscious mind.

Brain Gym is a wonderful technique for children, as they can do exercises during the treatment.   There are specific exercises to re-develop the brains neural pathways according to what needs to be done.  From doing hook ups to working with the cross crawl.  Along with muscle checking (to see what needs to be addressed) to having a special exercise program, children love the interaction and have fun.  As adults, we can use the same techniques and get amazing results and bring changes into our lives to help us go forward.

We’re Almost There

We are in the midst of personal and planetary changes that have never happened this way before.  Never has an entire planet with all its population taken the next step. We are moving towards, actually racing now, towards critical mass, wherein consciousness takes wing and flies, leaping off the ground, entering a different dimension. Our consciousness soars.

Many are going through stomach or intestinal disturbances as we process the great shifting of our selves and the planet. Many are experiences intermittent memory loss as they unconsciously flash in and out, back and forth between dimensions. The veils are so thin now. Upon return to this reality, we momentarily forget what we were saying or doing. It’s not dementia; it’s growth of the consciousness.

So what happens after critical mass is reached? For each person the experience will depend entirely on how they think, feel and create their world.  For a long time now, we’ve heard such phrases as “thought creates” and ‘what you focus on you get more of”. So it is entirely up to you, dear reader, to determine your thoughts, feelings and focus. We are creating this next new world together. What would you like it to be?

If you find yourself in an unhappy or uncomfortable state, then take steps now to shift how you think about your state. Judging yourself worsens it. Know everything changes and it will pass.  Know also that the grander, wiser part of yourself set this experience out for your benefit, not for your destruction. Pain can cause us to seek a different path.  Joy tells us we’re on our best path. Whatever it takes, take the journey.

Recently I had a client in intense emotional pain. Instead of denying the pain, pushing it away, fearing drowning in it, I suggested she sense into her body and feel where that pain was. I suggested she look at it and see what it looked like. I reminded her to breathe through it and just allow it to be there. To stand witness to the pain is to acknowledge it. Once acknowledged, it has done its job of getting your attention and can leave. Amazed she whispered “It just dissolved and went away!” A physics law says ‘A thing is changed by observation’. Just the simple act of observing the pain was a revelation to her because her tears simply stopped. She didn’t drown in her feelings. She could breathe. She could allow the pain’s existence and just as with a whining child, once she paid attention, its whining stopped.

This simple method transmutes pain of any kind, physical or emotional. It releases it. By allowing and simply paying attention to it, it is transformed.

We are in a time of easy transformation right now. It is up to you how you approach your own situations. If you can’t control the external circumstances, you can surely be in charge of how your react to them. Your attitude, your observations and your allowance change you, releasing your slumbering, earthbound spirit to soar.
Set your intentions.  Put your order into the universe telling it what you desire in your life. Now is the time.

Many things now promote higher vibrations within us such as:
*Light coming onto the planet. It now supports 4th dimension experiences, not 3rd.
*Planetary alignments help. Just as the Moon controls tides and cycles, the great planets affect us too. Their new and intense alignments have a huge affect on consciousness and its vibrations.
*The internet with its instantaneous connectivity to all things and its mass of revealed secrets, whistleblowers and behind the scenes revelations spurs us to greater learning and connectedness.
*Mass consciousness itself has awakened enough to be available to access it during sleep, meditation, quiet times, altered states and by wakeful intent.

Much that was hidden is being revealed regarding politics, economics and the ‘wizards behind the curtains’. Their control is shifting because we, us, individuals, you and I, decided to grasp the opportunity to awaken in our ascension.

Never before has a planet risen to this level. Using free will we are almost there, at critical mass, moving forward more and more quickly. We started out as drops of water on a plain, flowed into a small stream, joined a river and are approaching the ocean of Oneness. Along the way we learned we are not alone.  Others think like us. We stopped being solely individual and joined the larger picture of wholeness, retaining our individual essences too. We are amazing.  Never before has this been done on this scale.

Love and compassion are the hallmarks of the 4th dimension.   We’re almost there.  Hang in and hang on!  Let’s see what we create.  May it be joy filled and loving!

Cool Family Solutions - Family Forum
Cool Family Solutions is kicking off Mental Illness Week (October 2 - 8) October 1, 2011 highlighting unique support programs for families.
Cool Family Solutions is about helping more families create a healthy home environment and find a plan to fit their particular circumstances. If families do not learn how to support their loved one dealing with mental illness, everyone is susceptible to illness.
YES You may have mental illness in the family, but it does not define who the ill person is or who the family members are. What defines the family is how everyone keeps moving forward with individual goals and passions, knowing the family can weather the storms that challenge them.
If you know of a family who is struggling to be on the same page, having communication breakdowns and/or feeling overwhelmed with challenges, this is an opportunity for them to explore and experience a day of education and fun.
The day forum involves: Nutritional Snack, interactive family activities and education for the family to experience what the programs can offer to guide them to create a strong cohesiveness all the way down the family line.

Options for Your Business/Organization are:
1) Refer families to the October 1 Event to learn success strategies.
2) Sponsor families to attend the function (registration fee of $15.00 per family).
3) Purchase a table to advertise your organization or program (space limited @$150.00).

Intro to the Shamanic Journey and your Power Animal
This workshop will introduce the techniques and method of the shamanic journey. This is a process we can all learn (though for some it takes more practice than others), where we enter into “non-ordinary” reality to be able to communicate as spirit, to other spirit helpers, guides and animal totems or guardians. Teachings will include an overview of shamanic cosmology, the role of the shaman in a community, and the basic ‘geography' of non-ordinary reality.
This is an experiential workshop with step by step instructions and is intended for those who have never done shamanic journeying before, or who are still trying to develop their skills. Once learned, the shamanic journey can be used for many purposes, but this workshop will focus on finding, relating to, and communicating with, our Power Animal(s).
Shamanic journey work is usually done lying down, so feel free to bring whatever would make you comfortable. A blanket is a good idea, and perhaps a pillow as well. A scarf or bandana can be helpful to block out the light. There will be times when you will need to take notes, so bring along pen and paper.

Stress : effects the body in more ways than one.  Physically, emotionally and spiritually.

In the last two weeks, not only have I experienced a blast of unrest, anxiety and being really tired due to the stress building up in me and around me.  I work at the most amazing job 3 days a week, doing what I am good at and the other two to three days, either providing treatments or looking after the grandkids.  All that I love to do.  I thought I was doing just get, then bam…. mega tired, ready to cry and could not even get my butt into my own office to work on the newsletter, which is next to treatments and the grandkids, my next favorite activity.
This last week several people around me are experiencing the same, some in different ways.  My experience this time and in the past is to recognize what is causing the discomfort in my life and implementing the changes.  We can embrace what is going on, but if we don’t make some changes and look after ourselves physically and emotionally we will get really sick.
A couple of weeks ago I restarted the Vitamin B50’s, all the B vitamins and 50 mg of each.  But this was not strong enough, to rebuild the system and remembered a formula called “AdrenaSense”, and anti-stress herbal combination with Rhodula, Suma, Siberian Ginseng, Schisandra and Ashwahanda.  From addressing the issues that was causing some of the stress and the herbal formula, within a week I feel so much better.  Will probably take the formula for about another 2 – 3 weeks, then put it aside.  A couple of years ago, I used the “AdrenaSense” and within 2 weeks saw a huge difference: physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Eating habits also affect our outlook and stress levels, and many foods, though we consider them to be comfort foods (emotional), actual have the opposite effect physically.  The heavier foods can cause a person to be lethargic, and when one is lethargic, they are not able to get the physical exercise they need nor do they have the ambition to get chores or tasks done.   In the last few days, I have made sure I ate properly, more fruits and veggies, and less of the home made breads and baking.
Now matter whether we are male or female, we need to listen to our bodies, and feed it what it really requires.  We also need to learn to address what is bothering us, and implement changes to let go of our old habits that don’t serve us any longer.  The attitude of “I am tough, I can handle anything”, can become a path to unease, unhappiness, depression and more.   Take the time to value yourself, treat yourself and find what will work with your body to start that healing process.
For me, it may be Vitamins and Herbs, and addressing uncomfortable issues, and for the next person there may be other solutions.  We also need to be careful of what we consume, and if we are on any medications, please do work with your Naturalpathic Doctor or Family doctor before making any changes.  If you can use a more natural process with the healing and look for the root cause, your body will heal better and become stronger.

Sage: one of wisdom – a wise teacher, spiritual teacher or a teacher of mysticism, a philosopher.

As I harvest the sage from the garden it is time to learn what else the herb can be used for.  In the drier areas such as Lethbridge, Alberta, one could grow the White Sage for Smudging.  Salvia officinalis has been used since ancient times for warding off evil, and found in monasteries where herbs and medicines were stored.  The herb has been used medicinally for hundreds of years.  Known as the “Savior”.

                                      Gardening

As the grandkids are sneaking the peas out of the garden, the 3 year old eating the kale he just picked and the granddaughter forever in the Raspberries, I am so grateful for the time in the gardens again.  The pea patch is very small, but enough for the kids to enjoy and a few meals of fresh beans.  The sage is being harvested and dried for the winter, some the berries that made it to the freezer, and the flowers are being dried for the vase or two.  I am still hoping to get some carrots from the family farm to pickle, and freeze the dill.
Each year I get more daring with what I plant, and wondering why I waited so long to get the herbs growing.  In the next 3 weeks I am hoping to get some plants split up and transplanted, and one plant moved so that the surrounding plants can grow better.   This is a good time of the year to start planning for the spring and creating ideas of what changes you can make to utilize what space you do have.  No matter what size your yard is, or your balcony, there are several ways to grow fruit, veggies and flowers.  One yard in town, very small and started off all rock, now has an amazing rock garden with an apple tree, raspberries and beautiful plants growing in it.
The biggest chore or change, is to dig up some plants that have gone a bit too wild in an shady area and replace the garden area with wood chip, and some neat rocks and ornaments along with some of the Saskatoon shooters from another garden.  About 13 years ago, I was given 2 small Saskatoon plants for Mothers Day, and planted them about a foot apart.  After about 4 years I split up the plants and now have two huge Saskatoon bushes, along with about 5 other smaller ones around the yard.
The biggest thing we need to remember is to not limit ourselves to what we can do with our growing space.  Not only do I reap the benefits of the garden time, the grandkids love to eat off of the plants and they both knew by the time they were 2 – 3 what they could safely eat.  Each year I leave all the top berries for the birds to eat.
