Environmental & Earth Saving Tips
Our "Environment"
From some of our newsletters:
Our
health is dependent on what we eat, breath and how we take care of our
personal lives. Part of our life here is the
responsibility that we have to the earth and atmosphere. Sometimes we get
tired of hearing about recycling, but once we
get in
the habit of it, it is amazing how our actions reflect towards others.
Helping
to clean up after a wonderful wedding, a couple of weekends ago, I tried to
recycle as much as I could before others
put
everything into the garbage. A couple of people thought I was a bit goofy,
but I sure felt better afterwards for my efforts.
Live Earth
sponsored several concerts that were held in different cities around
the world abut a month ago. I visited
liveearth.org
–
climate
crises tools and was amazed by what I was reading. From purchasing a
reusable water bottle to turning off your computer
at night
makes a huge impact on our environment. We could fill this whole newsletter
with energy saving tips, but…
www.liveearth.org
can show
you a lot more, along with the offer of a newsletter with updates. We all
are busy with our lives, but please do take the time
to
recycle and pass on the information for any open ears and even those who are
pretending to not listen. Recycling
a single
aluminum can conserves 96% of
the energy used to produce another from scratch.
- September 2007 newsletter
Under the tray of my printer I have a file folder that I place recycled
paper that can be printed on again. During the day in the office, we
accidentally
print too many pages, or forget to make a change, etc. Instead of wasting
the empty side, I will use it to print out email correspondence. This info
is for my eyes only and so far has saved me many dollars, along with a less
trip to the recycle bin.

Environmental
Tips:
If you have some wonderful ideas please let
us know, our earth and environment are worth it.
bucklers@shaw.ca How long
can we get the following list:
1.
Recycling a single aluminum can conserves 96% of the energy used to produce
another from scratch. (Live Earth)
2.
Saving and reprinting on paper that is still reusable, then recycling.(1 ton
of recycled paper equals enough power
to
heat a 3 room house for one year. (Kim
B. and Live Earth)
3.
Turning off your computer at night. 1 million pc's turned off overnight,
eliminates 45,000 of co2 per year and saves
in
electricity. Even your screen savers are a use of electricity. (Live Earth)
4.
Purchasing a good drinking bottle and using filtered water to fill the
bottle. 1.5 million tons of plastic are used to
make
bottles every year, this could power electricity in 250,000 homes. (Live Earth)
- Just think how many people are buying
bottled water because they don't want to drink tap water, then proceed to
throw
the plastic bottles into the garbage.
We can buy the proper drinking bottle, reuse 100's of times and drink
filtered water,
boiled water, or water from Nikken etc.
Save the earth: less plastics in garbage sites, save the power used to make
the
bottles, and save our health by taking the
time to use proper drinking bottles and using water that we personally know
is
safe.
5.
Putting broken toys into the recycling bin and not the garbage. (Kim
B.)
6.
Turn down your heat by 1 degree will save on heating costs by 3%. (Live
Earth)
