Upcoming Fall Conference hosted by Spiritual Directions in Calgary Alberta

Leading the Way: Building a Sustainable Future

with

Dr. Margaret Wheatley and Dr. Peter Senge

in Calgary

Thursday, November 11 and Friday, November 12, 2010

This two day conference features two of the world’s most influential leaders in the areas of social, environmental and business sustainability.

Peter Senge is described by the Journal of Business Strategy as a “strategist of the century, ...one of 24 men and women who have had the greatest impact in the way we conduct business today”. His earlier book, The Fifth Discipline, introduced the concept of the learning organization. His recent co-authored book, The Necessary Revolution: Working Together to Create a Sustainable World, expands on this concept as it explains the need for corporations to see themselves as part of a world-wide-web of influences that must hold a larger, more inter-dependent perspective to remain sustainable.

Margaret Wheatley’s multi-award-winning book, Leadership and the New Science, established a fundamentally new approach to how we think about organizations, and was voted a “top ten business book of all time”. She is a co-founder of the Berkana Institute, a charitable global foundation that supports the development of local leaders in over 40 countries to foster societies that tap and evoke the best of human capability. Her recent book, Turning to One Another: Simple Conversations to Restore Hope to the Future, is about listening to one another –about simple, truthful conversations that can change the world. Her latest book, Perseverance, focuses on situations, feelings, and challenges that may cause us to lose our way.  Concise essays each name a dynamic -such as fearlessness, guilt, joy, jealousy -that supports or impedes our efforts to persevere, and offer ways to either live by or transcend each one.
